nilagang baka/beef

  •     1 bundle Pechay (bok choy) or 1/2 cabbage strips
  •     1 kilo Beef Meat (Beef shank) cut into cubes
  •     1 whole small onion
  •     2 medium corn cut into 4 pieces(optional)
  •     1/4 ginger(optional) cut into cubes
  •     5 pieces Saging na saba (optional)
  •     1 tbsp whole pepper corn
  •     1 stalk onion leeks diced
  •     5 tbsp of fish sauce(patis) or salt alternative
  •     1 liter of water
Beef Nilaga Cooking Instructions:
  • In a big pot add water and  then place the meat. Add the whole onion and whole pepper corn. Bring to boil about 45 minutes to 1 hour or until beef is tender. Pressure cooker only takes 30 minutes*
  • After boiling, when meat is tender turn off the heat for 3 minutes. Remove some fats to prevent excessive cholesterol.
  • Turn on minimal heat and add corn. Season with fish sauce and some salt. Simmer for about 10 minutes until corn is tender.
  • Add the banana , cabbage or bok choy leaves. Simmer until veggies are cooked.
  • Lastly sprinkle with onion leeks. Turn off heat and simmer with remaining heat.
  • Serve.
